Ultimately, over 5,000 customers recovered $1,800,000 in damages and penalties. 24. Carey v. The Gap: A class action settlement on behalf of several hundred African American workers at The Gap's distribution facility in Middle Tennessee for alleged race discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the Tennessee Human Rights Act. The named plaintiffs and the class of former and current African American employees received a monetary settlement of $750,000 along with the implementation of programmatic changes at the facility. |
