Janis joined Stewart, Estes & Donnell, PLC as an associate in 2007.  Prior to joining Stewart, Estes and Donnell, she served as Assistant General Counsel with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.  As Assistant General Counsel, Janis managed ongoing inventory of between 125-175 Second Injury Fund cases, prosecuted matters under the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Act (TOSHA), and tried to verdict over 75 cases.

Janis also previously worked in private practice with a focus on General Civil Litigation, including Toxic Torts, Title VII and cases under the Tennessee Human Rights Commission and the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act.   

She is a Rule 31 Listed General Civil Mediator and has successfully mediated Rule 37 Appellate cases.

Janis received her J.D. from Western New England College School of Law in 2002.  She served as President of her law school student body (Student Bar Association), a member of its National Trial Team and was a First Circuit student (voting) representative at the ABA Annual Meeting in 2001. She served as Commission Counsel for the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination in 2002.

Janis graduated from Austin Peay State University, where she received her B.S. in Political Science in 1997.  While at Austin Peay, Janis served as Legislative Intern for the Senate Transportation Committee and was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa honors' society and Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

Janis is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association/Young Lawyers Division.  She is also a member of the Nashville Bar Association/Young Lawyers Division.  She is a member of the Belmont United Methodist Church and a Committee Member for the American Cancer Society's Advocacy Group.

Janis' practice focuses on commercial and civil litigation and workers' compensation defense.  Her practice includes the defense of clients in products liability litigation and representation of various clients in the transportation industry and motor vehicle actions.
